2007 Artists Pete Lenihan Trio Jazz at Jardin’s Sponsored by Hough, MacAdam & Wartnik, LLC Pete Lenihan on keyboards. A jazz fan since he was a young boy, Pete took his first piano lesson as a student at San Francisco City College after his discharge from the Navy. Now a resident of Port Orford, he frequently appears at clubs in Southern Oregon and Northern California. And for six months each year, he lives in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico, where he performs with musical colleagues from Brazil, Cuba, and Argentina. Ted Owen on drums. In the days when artists of color were still prohibited from the stage in this country, many took their music to the concert halls of Europe and Canada. Ted was playing drums in an after-hours club in Vancouver, British Columbia, where musicians would come to jam after their concerts. Over the years, he performed with jazz luminaries such as Lena Horne, Billie Holiday, Lionel Hampton, and Sammy Davis Jr. Ryan Collins on guitar. Ryan began his music career in Seattle, playing with original rock-and-roll bands. He developed an interest in jazz when he was in high school and enrolled in Central Washington University’s jazz program. Ryan moved to Port Orford 11 years ago, and in addition to his work with the trio, plays at the Blue Moon in Coos Bay with Josh Baldwin. Wilbur Jensen on trumpet. A familiar figure on the South Coast music scene, Wilbur was born into a family of musicians. As a teenager, he was a two-time guest soloist with the Chicago Symphony. Along with his wife Judy, Wilbur is a charter member of the Bay Area Concert Band, and he also performs with a traditional Dixieland ensemble, a big band, and a brass quintetAll tickets $75 |
