Welcome Fellow Music Lovers!
Our 30th season is about to begin! This years festival is going to be one to remember. This year has been packed with musical talents and performances. The OCMA along with its sponsors has been able to provide the highest caliber music for the Coos County area. This year we had performances from Roberto Plano(Italian Pianist), Xevi Nova, and Fools in Paradise!
Our Education Program was also making waves in the music community. A Snowball's Chance was the performing band for our education program known as "KinderKonzerts." The KinderKonzert program was a huge success, and was seen by over 2000 students! We also received a grant from the Coos County Cultural Coalition to help continue this program. Thank you CCCC!
This year's poster was designed by the wonderfully artistic, Don McMichael. Our Poster Party was a great event, thanks to the wonderful people at Inland Point. They provided us with a beautiful setting to host our party. Thank you also to all who attended! It was a great time!
James Paul and Jason Klein will again grace the stage to conduct our festival orchestra! James Paul has been the long time Music Director for the Oregon Coast Music Festival. We are so grateful to have them back once again! Thank you James and Jason!
This year's festival is going to be a great event! Throughout the two-week performance schedule, we will be experiencing reggae, jazz, Celtic, swing, surf-country, and soul. Local musicians will also be a part of this year's festival. We have a wealth of extremely talented musicians in our own area, and we are happy to recognize them. The festival kick-off in Mingus Park will showcase some of this local talent. Our soloist this year for the orchestra concert is Jon Nakamatsu. He is a concert pianist of the highest caliber. The Rachmaninoff piano concerto is going to be a spectacular event. You don't want to miss this one. We hope you will all join us in the celebration of our 30th anniversary. Come and enjoy world class music in your own back yard! Thank you.
Carmen Matthews - President of the Board of Directors
Reviews:
"Coos Bay may be a long way from Portland or San Francisco, but the concerts of the Orgon Coast Music Festival rival the best heard in the bigger cities. Live orchestral classical music performed before a regional audience is a rare cultural jewel. It deserves our respect and support." ----Keith Henty, JEFFERSON PUBLIC RADIO
"The concert was wonderful -- really quite an amazing performance. This was the third time I've been down to hear the OCMA orchestra, and the repertoire is always interesting, the performances spirited, and the auditorium an infinitely remarkable place to hear such music. Your fesitival and its orchestra are real gems."----Peter Dammann, Producer PORTLAND WATERFRONT BLUES FESTIVAL
